HISTORY

Nemesio I. Yabut Elementary School (NIYES )formerly known as Guadalupe Nuevo Elementary School was established  in 1936. It was situated in a 12,270 square meter lot in the corner of Escuela and Gov. Noble Streets, Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo. The first building constructed was of Gabaldn type. Due to lack of school buildings, private houses were rented as annexes of the school.

The influx of squatters in the place most of which were on Kalayaan Avenue, “Talipapa”, formerly Imelda Avenue doubly increased the school population. In 1961 GES Main under Mrs. Teodora Mabalot’s untiring effort, paved the way for the establishment of Guadalupe Elementary School (GES I) popularly known as Belmonte Annex on La Consolacion Street and Guadalupe Nuevo Elementary School (GNES) on Jacinto Street plus its annex in Barrio Visaya.

GES  started accommodating Grades I-VI classes in 1964-1965 and Grade I-VI in 1966 – 1967 with all its annexes in Roy Theater, Manansala, Camino dela Fe, Bonifacio and San Jose. More storey Marcos type school buildings were constructed to serve the constinuously growing population inthe 70’s. It was they the time when the construction of the new 4 storey building began.

In 1985, GES I moved to the front part of the new school building along Gov. Noble St. under Mrs. Josefa Reyes as principal. She was replaced soon by Mr. Aurelio Castillo who later retired. The merging of GES I and GES Main under Miss Erlinda A. Fajardo and the renaming of the school from Guadalupe Elementary School Main to Nemesio I. Yabut Elementary School in 1995 was conceptualized by no othter than the Honorable Mayor Jemomar C. Binay.
